# Sure [#sure]

[Sure](https://sureapp.com/) is a community-maintained, open-source personal finance application - a fork of the discontinued Maybe Finance project. You can self-host it to privately manage your finances.

## Prerequisites [#prerequisites]

* A self-hosted Sure instance (or one from a hosting provider)
* At least one bank account connected in Lunch Flow

## Setup [#setup]

    **Create the destination**

    In Lunch Flow, go to **Destinations → Add Destination → Sure**. After creating it, copy the generated API key.

    **Configure Sure**

    Log into your Sure instance, go to **Settings → Providers**, find Lunch Flow, and enter your API key.

  <Step>
    **Link accounts**

    In Sure's **Accounts** tab, set up new accounts and link them to your Lunch Flow accounts.

## Details [#details]

* **Outbound only:** Your Sure instance only needs outbound internet access - it does not need to be publicly accessible
* **Sync schedule:** Syncing follows Sure's configured schedule; manual syncs are also available
* **Legacy migration:** If you have an older setup, you can migrate to the new API-based approach for improved reliability

## Security [#security]

The connection uses read-only access with encrypted data transmission. Lunch Flow cannot access your banking credentials or perform financial transactions.
